The exhibition of the lots in Liege will take place by appointment only from Monday 22nd to Saturday 27th February 2021 from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The sale will start on Sunday 28 February 2021 at 10.30 a.m. Generally, we auction between 100 and 120 lots per hour.
Lots can be handed over immediately on the spot, or during the week following the sale (from 2 to 6 March 2021) in our offices at the Palais des Congrès de Liège. By appointment only. The lots can of course be sent anywhere in the world. Possibility of free hand-delivery in Paris on Wednesday 10 March 2021 at the restaurant of the Théâtre du Rond-Point des Champs-Elysées, between 12:00 and 2:00 pm, if the health situation permits.
Selling costs: 20% + 1 euro per lot (handling fee).

Lots 24 to 41 present an unpublished set of early works by Pierre Lévy dit Dardel, illustrator and advertising designer, coming directly from the artist's family. Among these works are a set of academies (lots 24 to 35) from Dardel's student period at the Ecole des Arts appliqués de Paris around 1934; two rare advertising projects testifying to the artist's commercial beginnings (lots 36 and 41) designed around 1935, as well as four original illustration projects for the famous magazine Fillette, for which Dardel worked in 1947.
A contemporary of the famous illustrator Pierre Joubert, Dardel studied at the École des arts appliqués à l'industrie de Paris in 1932 and graduated in 1935 with a special mention for his success in the advertising studio.
Between 1945 and 1949, he made numerous illustrations for magazines such as "Fillette", "L'escoute" but also for the "Sanders" company (a company that sells animal feed) for which he drew animals. He also made many illustrations for books on various themes, including "Histoire de France" (3 different illustrated volumes known to this day) by Marc Chesnau, "Petite histoire de la colonisation française" and "Trois Contes" by Marie-Madeleine Martin, "Eau de Vichy Vin de Malaga" by Simon Arbellot and "Alphabet" by Editions de l'Arc.
Portraitist and landscape painter painting on the motif during his explorations of France by bicycle, he decided in 1949 to join the EPDI (Ecole Professionnelle de Dessin Industriel) in Paris where he created the teaching section for advertising drawings which he directed until 1982, when he retired.
On 27 January 1969, he was made a Knight in the Order of the Palmes Académiques for services rendered to the French National Education system.

Les lots 24 à 41 présentent un ensemble inédit d’œuvres de jeunesse de Pierre Lévy dit Dardel, illustrateur et dessinateur publicitaire, provenant directement de la famille de l’artiste. Il exécuta aussi de nombreuses illustrations pour des livres de thèmes divers dont l'"Histoire de France" (3 volumes illustrés différents connus à ce jour) par Marc Chesnau, la "Petite histoire de la colonisation française" et "Trois Contes" par Marie-Madeleine Martin, "Eau de Vichy Vin de Malaga" par Simon Arbellot et l'"Alphabet" aux Editions de l’Arc.
Portraitiste et paysagiste peignant sur le motif lors de ses explorations de la France à vélo, il décida en 1949 d'intégrer l’EPDI (Ecole Professionnelle de Dessin Industriel) à Paris où il créa la section d’enseignement de dessins publicitaires qu’il dirigea jusqu’en 1982, date à laquelle il prit sa retraite.
Le 27 janvier 1969, il est nommé Chevalier dans l’ordre des Palmes Académiques pour les services rendus à l’Education Nationale.

The exhibition of the lots in Liege will take place by appointment from Monday 22 to Saturday 27 February 2021 from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The sale will start on Sunday 23 February 2020 at 3.00 p.m. We generally auction between 100 and 120 lots per hour.
Lots can be handed over immediately on the spot, or during the week following the sale (from 2 to 6 March 2021) in our offices at the Palais des Congrès de Liège. By appointment only. The lots can of course be sent anywhere in the world. Possibility of hand-delivery in Paris on Wednesday 10 March 2021, at the restaurant of the Theatre at the Champs-Elysées roundabout, between 12:00 and 2:00 pm, depending on health conditions.
Selling costs: 20% + 1euro per lot (handling fee).

A collection made of passion and patience. Henri Jean Dubernard built it throughout his life. The boxes that make it up tell the story of his hunts, his correspondence with breeders or his own breeding, but they also reveal an encyclopaedic knowledge that was built up little by little, through precious reading and fervent research. Moreover, this work reveals the art of the entomologist. His gestures were always safe, meticulous and delicate in order to highlight the insects, whatever they were, and to set them in their eternal bosom.
How he admired these insects! And how he knew how to remain humble in the face of such beauty. It is true that when contemplating his entire collection, one looks as much as one feels looked at...

Une collection faite de passion et de patience. Henri Jean Dubernard l'a bâtie tout au long de sa vie. Les boites qui la composent racontent le temps de ses chasses, des ses correspondances avec des éleveurs ou de ses propres élevages, mais elles dévoilent aussi un savoir encyclopédique qui s'est construit peu à peu, au fil de précieuses lectures et de ferventes recherches. De surcroît, cette oeuvre révèle l'art de l'entomologiste. Ses gestes étaient toujours sûrs, minutieux et délicats afin de mettre en valeur les insectes, quels qu'ils fussent et les sertir dans leurs écrins d'éternité.
Comme il les admirait ces insectes! Et comme il savait rester humble devant tant de beauté. Il est vrai qu'en contemplant l'ensemble de sa collection, on regarde autant qu'on se sent regardé...

After the sale, you can collect your lots free of charge from Galerie SCHAIX at 6 rue Saint-Florentin, 75001, Paris (collection of lots without appointment from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm) or from our office in Dijon or Grenoble. Shipment is also possible for a fixed price of 20 € for France and 30 € for Europe (fixed price per package and excluding insurance). The lots will then be sent decadrated. For logistical reasons, we cannot group shipments from several sales.

If you wish to make a written bid or to bid by phone, you can send a request by e-mail to orane@sadde.fr with a copy of your bank details and a proof of identity.
These must be presented to us, 2 hours before the sale. It is advisable to contact us to confirm their good reception.
In the case of several offers of purchase of equal amount, the first offer received by SVV Sadde prevails over the others.
For ONLINE sales, we accept telephone bids for lots with a bid equal to or greater than €2,500.
For any new buyer, not known to our study, who would have left a bid higher than €1,500, we will ask for a payment guarantee of 30% of the bid (excluding fees) to be paid by credit card on the site.

Après la vente, vous pouvez retirer gratuitement vos lots à la Galerie SCHAIX au 6 rue Saint- Florentin, 75001, Paris (retrait des lots sans RDV du lundi au vendredi de 10h à 18h et le samedi de 10h à 17h) ou à notre étude de Dijon ou Grenoble. L’expédition est également possible pour un forfait de 20 € pour la France et 30 € pour l’Europe (forfait par colis et hors assurance) les lots seront alors envoyés décadrés. Pour des raisons logistiques, nous ne pouvons grouper les expéditions de plusieurs ventes.

Si vous souhaitez faire une offre d'achat par écrit ou enchérir par téléphone, vous pouvez en faire la demande par mail à orane@sadde.fr accompagné d’une copie de votre RIB et d’une pièce d’identité.
Ceux-ci doivent nous être présentés, 2 h avant la vente. Il est conseillé de nous contacter afin de confirmer leur bonne réception.
Dans le cas de plusieurs offres d'achat d'égal montant, la première offre reçue par la SVV Sadde l'emporte sur les autres.
Pour les ventes ONLINE, nous acceptons les enchères téléphoniques pour les lots dont la mise à prix est égale ou dépasse les 2 500 €.
Pour tout nouveau acheteur, qui ne serait pas connu de notre étude, qui aurait laissé une enchère supérieure à 1 500 €, nous demanderons une garantie de paiement de 30 % de l'enchère (Hors frais) à verser par carte bancaire sur le site.
