TOULOUSAINE CREDENCE WITH ARCATURES, TOULOUSE SCHOOL, 1580Wooden
walnut carved and partially gilded. It has three arcatures at the top, separated by four finely turned balusters. Between two bird feathers, the background has a concentric composition of vegetal and flowery motifs in its centre. It is surrounded on either side by two rectangles in which are carved flowers and leaves. A Leonine mascaron links the balusters two-by-two, topped with fruit between two consoles decorated with winged putti heads. The central part shows a smiling mascaron carried by two cherubs. This credenza opens with two drawers carved into a belt, separated by three consoles with angel head patterns. In leaf volutes, two winged putti support a laurel wreath, encircling the drawer button. The
lower part, on either side of the two doors, has a decoration carved with angel heads and fruit
