1732. BOOK: (CERVANTINE). FERNÁNDEZ DE AVELLANEDA, ALONSO: LIFE, AND FACTS OF THE INGENIOUS HIDALGO DON QUIXOTE DE LA MANCHA, WHICH CONTAINS HIS FOURTH OUTING, AND IS THE FIFTH PART OF HIS ADVENTURES. Madrid: Juan Oliveras, 1732. 8th major. 16 h. + 275 p. +2 h. The last page numbered 475 by mistake. Engraved on the cover. Wooden headers and lampshades. A little short on margins. Parchment glazing, labeled hindquarters. Palau 88034 says of this edition that it is as rare as the first and regrets that the ignorance of some has mutilated many copies, as the cover reads 'Part II. Volume III'. It is a complete work, Cervantes did not publish the real second part of Don Quixote's adventures until 1615 and Fernandez de Avellaneda's had come out of the impenta the year before. It is not known who this pseudonym hides, although there are many theories. Some scholars point to Cristóbal Suárez de Figueroa, for his disputes with Cervantes and the style.
