PARIS - DULAURE (Jacques-Antoine)
Physical, civil and moral history of Paris. Sixth edition, with new notes and an appendix containing descriptive and historical details on all the monuments recently erected in the capital, by J.-L. Belin
Paris, Furne, 1837-1838, 8 vols. in-8, with 412 plates (of which 16 plans or maps; and 396 views or portraits), aubergine half-shells, spines with false nerves decorated with fillets, gilt garlands and boxes, gilt edges (Hersent). Freckles
The most complete edition of this classic which first appeared in 1821-1825. Without the oblong in-8 atlas (five folding maps and a supplementary text).
And singular because our issue has an iconography of 56 plates; the remaining 356 are added plates, most of them borrowed from other descriptions of Paris or France (Saint-Victor, La France pittoresque, etc.) and with the notable exception of 28 remarkable original drawings of views of Paris treated in tempera (sepia or grey, sometimes in 2 tones).
