BELGIUM. About 250 glass plates that belonged to Frédéric de SMET (1876-1948), art critic and artist from Ghent.

Remarkable set of slides and negatives on glass that belonged to Frédéric de Smet (1876-1948), author, art critic and artist from Ghent. These slides were more than likely intended to illustrate the lectures given by F. de Smet.

The plates on glass in a format of +/- 8 x 8 cm, are edged with black paper and are captioned with ink. They are stored in 3 wooden boxes with sliding lids and another box.

The proposed selection is concentrated on churches, cathedrals and monuments in various Belgian cities: Aldeneik (3), Aalst (2), Bruges, Brussels (12), Bruges (17), Kortrijk (1), Dinant (3), Furnes (3), Ghent (14), Gendron-Celles (1), Gerdingen (1), Hal (1), Herent (1), Houthulst (6), Huysse (3), Liège (5), Lissewege (5), Leuven (8), Mechelen (15), Mons (2), Nivelles (3), Ostend (1), Oudenaarde (3), St Hubert (1), St Trond (4), Tongeren (6), Tournai (10), Vivenkapelle (2), WInksele (5), Ypres (11).

Included in the set, 36 plates on the Antwerp World Exhibition, 15 views of the Grand Duchy and about 40 double views.
