next to a thistle and a stone block in a landscape in the evening. Finely painted, rare cabinet picture of the important Flemish painter, who studied with Peter Boel from 1659 and became a master in 1663
. After stays in Paris, Rome and Vienna, David de Coninck returned to Antwerp in 1687. In his
paintings, the artist, who was also active as a painter of hunting and
still lifes, often combined virtuoso, carefully studied depictions of animals with still life-like compositions.
