Rectangular-shaped console made of moulded and green lacquered wood with Greek friezes, beaded and simulated fluting, presenting in the centre of the belt a white marble plate with green scagliola decoration of a vase, the connecting dice of a palmette, resting on four tapered sheath feet. The top is made of white marble scagliola decorated in green with foliage garland and palmettes.
English work in the Adam style.
High. Width: 86.5 cm - Width: 106 cm - Depth: 47.5 cm.

Our console is a perfect example of the Adam style which was born in England at the end of the 18th century and was revived in the 19th century with the Grand Tour. It is very likely that the top as well as the marble plates of the belt were made in Italy and brought back to Great Britain where they were mounted on our console.
