Rudolf Küchler, "Life is work"
c. 1930, signed, bronze with dark patina, recto inscribed "Leben ist Arbeit" (life is work), objective, minimal abstract depiction of a miner with free upper part of his body, one hand raised to the head in exhaustion, the other hand supported by a pickaxe, on naturalistically designed rock plinth, patina with slight signs of age, h approx. 48 cm. Artist info: Sculptor, active in Berlin (born 1867 Vienna), 1883 to 1890 student of the Vienna Academy, created among others the Emperor Wilhelm and Friedrich Monument in Giebichenstein near Halle, 1900 the Emperor Wilhelm Monument in Mohrungen as well as portrait busts of Brahms and the Crown Princess Cecilie, worked among other things also as a medalist by order of J.
