Copy number CXXIX. 1st edition, Hamburg: Published by Hoffmann und Campe (printed by stamperia Valdonega- Verona), 1965. 34 pages 43x32 cm. Pablo Neruda’s autograph is in the colophon in green ink. First German edition of The Heights of Macchu Picchu. It contains ten original lithographs by Hap Grieshaber, on a whole double page, two of the last ones are unbound and outside the text. The paper is untrimmed, with wide margins. Half bound binding with parchment, pages in Japanese washi paper. Original sackcloth slipcover with a lithograph by the artist printed on the front. Limited edition of 190 copies, numbered at the printing press. This copy is number CXXIX, signed by the author, Pablo Neruda, and the artist. The book is accompanied by a paperback book with 27 pages, in Spanish, the Licht, Stein und Stille study. There are two newspaper cuttings in the book with contemporary reviews from Der Welt, 16th February 1966, and Faz, 30th April 1966, this last one is signed by Lothar Baier.
