Neruda, Pablo. "Canto general" (General song). 1st edition, Mexico: Published by Océano, 1950. 567 pages 36x24 cm. Autographed by Pablo Neruda, Siqueiros and Diego Rivera. Dedication handwritten in green ink. First edition. Copy number 131/500 of a limited edition of 500 numbered and signed copies. It is signed by Siqueiros, Neruda and Diego Rivera and also contains the handwritten dedication “20 de agosto de 1958, en casa de los O’dem con cariño, Pablo Neruda.” This book, which constitutes an epic history of the entire American Western Hemisphere, was one of the principal reasons why Neruda was awarded the Nobel prize. The fly leaf has very colourful illustrations by Diego Rivera. Very large size, with a red cover. Generally well preserved. The edges of the pages are somewhat worn, and the original red cloth binding has become a little unstuck.
