Jonathan Lane
Jonathan Lane studied in England at the Chelsea School of Art, and graduated from the Brighton School of Art, University of Brighton. He has lived and painted in London, Venice, Tuscany, Fez, the Hautes-Pyrénées, and Marseille; exhibited in London, Tuscany, Fez, Paris, and Marseille. For the past few years, he has been working at Atelier Onze 13005, sharing the space with a painter and two photographers. Jonathan Lane's work has its roots in figuration: from sketches on the motif to painting, from sketches to the primordial gesture of painting. Wherever he has lived, Jonathan has been interested in the landscapes that surround him. This tendency to explore the potential of a place in pictorial terms is coupled with a need to render its universality, by extending and distorting the real, in order to express its essential values, light, structure and atmosphere. His new series 'One Tree' can be seen on his website.
