Lot 55

CABINET in marquetry of partially stained indigenous woods (ash, maple, boxwood, pear, oak, beech, walnut, sycamore, lime tree...) on a resinous core opening to a flap that reveals ten drawers and four small doors; lid at the top giving access to a large locker. Particularly rich ornamentation: drawer fronts, towns and dwellings with foregrounds of pebbles, tufts of grass and mounds, sometimes animated by a bird; inside of the flap, a central panel with a bird in a ruiniform and imaginary landscape in a frame with cut-out leather scrolls decorated with ivy branches; inside of the lid, two birds in profile in panels facing each other. More sober body decoration with large panels in frames of geometrical friezes simulating diamond points and mirrors; side handles, hinges, angles, lock entries and draw knobs in wrought and tin-plated iron.
