Buddha in Dhyana Mudra (Meditation)
On a lotus base, the Buddha is seated in meditation in the classic yogic posture known commonly as the lotus position(padma-asana). His robe covers both his shoulders and is marked with the eight auspicious symbols of Buddhism (ashta-mangala). His hands, resting on each other on his lap, hold a mendicant's begging bowl. His facial expression is introspective and his head covered with the short curls typical of a Buddha. The cranial bump signifying transcendental wisdom and elongated earlobes are also characteristic signs of the Buddha. The three conch-like lines on his neck signify the sweetness of his voice.
