A laurelled, draped and armoured bust of the king resting on an altar in front of which are the crowned arms of the Order of the Garter. R./ AMBITIO MALESUADA RUIT. Justice standing holding in his hand dr. a sword; at his feet are the decapitated bodies of Monmouth and Argyle; behind each is a pedestal bearing his head and titles. (MI I, 615, 27). Arg. 80.83 g. 61 mm. Slight blows on the edge. Of great historical interest.
