Moulded and carved walnut QUEEN'S REGENCE FALSE, the back is decorated with the cushioning of a shell surrounded by two foliage scrolls surmounted by a diamond motif, the shoulder with vegetal scrolls, the armrests adorned with acanthus leaves resting on moving brackets with foliage decoration. The scrolled belt has a shell in the centre surrounded by a garland of foliage on the short sides of the shells. Four hocked feet ending in acanthus scrolls and leaves and joined by a spacer encircled at the center by a flower. Bears an antique label bearing the words "M. Claret". Regency period. Decorated with a tapestry of small dots with vegetal motifs. Height 93, Width 63, Depth 65 cm. (small accidents and restorations, formerly canné). Provenance: descendant of Claret (1805-1886), architect-decorator of Napoleon III and protégé of Baron James de Rothschild. Regency period armchair to the Queen.
