A rare Antwerp cabinet with rosewood veneer and painted interior, circa 1680
The rectangular cabinet case made of oak, veneered in rosewood, mahogany and padouk, mounted on four flattened ball feet. The doors, sides and lid with geometric veneered décor. The interior comprises nine drawers around a central compartment. Coloured landscape scenes with figures painted in oil on each of the panels. The door opens to reveal four drawers and a secret compartment. Original handles of finely turned ivory. The lockable top piece with a hinged lid, a mirror on the underside of the lid, flanked by two finely painted landscapes. Dimensions 74 x 79 x 39 cm.
