A pair of imposing, cast iron consoles after a design by Karl Friedrich Schinkel for the Palace of Prince August in Berlin, circa 1826/28
Solid cast iron, painted a greenish shade. Probably made by Königliche Berliner Eisengießerei, the royal iron foundry. The solid iron bars joined at right angles. Interspersed with fine acanthus tendrils. Dimensions 63 x 116 x 9,5 cm.
The pair of consoles presented here can be seen in a photograph from 1940, which shows the Prince August Palace in Wilhelmstrasse 65, Berlin, where they hung in the Iron Gallery on the garden side of the first floor.

Slight signs of age. Partly restored. In good overall condition with a patina.
