Louis XV chest of drawers
Height: 91 cm.

Stamped "J. Schmitz" (Joseph Schmitz) and "JME" (guild stamp) under the top plate.
France, c. 1750.

In volute bronze sabots with acanthus decoration, standing on curved, canted legs, supporting the two-piece corpus sans traverse. The lower drawer with lambrequin finish, this is decorated with chased bronzes. Both drawers with handles in cast and gilded bronze, showing flowers and foliage. The key labels with rocaille decoration. The two drawers are overlapped by a fine marquetry cartouche, inlaid in different woods with mirror veneer. Central cartouche decorated with birds and mascaron as well as with various flowers, such as lilies and narcissus. Brech d'alep marble top following the lines of the furniture, profiled.
