Louis XVI portal clock
50.5 x 35.5 x 12 cm.
Dial signed "Planchon a Paris (Edouard Planchon) Back plate numbered "524".
Paris, from 1850.

On six double-conical bronze feet the rectangular white marble base with cast and chased reliefs. On top of it is a portal formed by a two-dimensional architectural volute with Doric columns in front, surrounded by plastic ormolu leaf decoration. The barrel-shaped casing is set into the protruding cornice, glazed on both sides and flanked by plastic campana vases with chased floral filling. Mounted eagle with lightning bolt as a reference to Zeus and Napoleon. Dial: White enamel with Arabic black hours and red minutes. Winding holes above the 4 and the 8th open-worked, gilded hands for hours, minutes and further hands. Percussion movement on bell, one pendulum and one key present.
