AMETHYST GEODE Artigas, Uruguay
H. 14 in - W. 15.5 in
Amethyst is one of the most recognizable and collectible of all semi-precious minerals, and is found in greatest abundance in Brazil. The specimens from Uruguay, however, tend to be of a superior quality, characterized by a lovely deep violet-purple coloring, as displayed here in this outstanding specimen. This highly decorative, tabletop display specimen features a well centered, naturally formed whole, which allows a bit of extra light into the geode causing the rich, lustrous amethyst to burst into sparkles. With polished edges this extremely fine Uruguayan geode measures 17 ¾ x 15 ¾ inches (45 x 40 cm).
