Bowl from the porcelain collection of Augustus the Strong for the Japanese Palais at Dresden
Meissen 1730
Roundly tapered, with steep walls and wavy lip rim all around. In the mirror colourfully painted with the coat of arms of the Saxon kings of Poland-Lithuania, surrounded by branches of Kakiemon flowers. Porcelain, at the back side blue enamelled sword mark, black sooty Johanneum mark "N = 336 W". Provenance: "The Arnhold Collection Meissen Porcelain 1710-50", p. 331, no. 103 a & b.
