Maurice ANDRE (1914-1985) Wool carpet with geometric decoration on a blue background. Monogrammed. 350 x 206 cm Born in Paris in 1914, Maurice ANDRE was in Aubusson from 1940 to 1945 with Lurçat, Gromaire and many other artists. In 1945 he founded a cooperative group "Tapisserie de France" while continuing to be a member of the Association of Tapestry Painters and Tapestry Cardboard Makers. He produces various works, tapestries and carpets, paintings and watercolours. Architecture and frescoes are for him the best points of comparison; he likes its logic and simplicity and he has been able to draw inspiration from them with a great economy of means. Some of his carpets are kept at the Mobilier national in Paris.
