Now, when I say that all this together makes up the artwork, it basically means that I divide my projects into two main phases or stages, which I like to call the "software" or "hardware" phase. In the software phase of a project I deal with drawings, plans, scale models and legal matters. In the software phase the result is not really visible yet, because there can only be vague ideas of what the bridge will look like. The realised work of art - the wrapped Pont Neuf - is the accumulation of a variety of forces which were undertaken and anticipated: formal, visual, symbolic, political, social and historical”.
