BOUQUET Michel (1807-1890). RARE AND IMPORTANT PLAQUE of tondo shape in earthenware enamelled on raw with a big kiln fire, round shape, representing in a central medallion in monochrome blue, the castle of Lanniron, the church of Locmaria and the Mont Frugy in Quimper. It is surrounded by polychrome-treated vegetation, formed of vine branches bordering a path in which a thrush, butterfly and chafer are growing. Signature of the artist at the bottom right. Firing attributable to the DUMAS manufacture in Paris, rue fontaine au roi. Wooden frame. Diam : 53 cm. (two small restored surface cooking cracks).
Provenance: Sale of the furniture of the Château de KERIVOAL in Quimper in 1930. Former Collection TREANTON, MORLAIX.
We are most probably in the beginnings of his work in ceramics, which did not begin until 1861. A piece close to this one is dated 1862. Many personalities of the time liked to acquire her earthenware such as the empress Eugénie.
