Pair of Ibejis statuette, Ogbomosho type (with coats), Yoruba, Nigeria. H 23 cmSculpted in a cubist style, this set of male statuettes presents powerful and characterful forms. Beautiful brown and shiny patina. These twins are carved in a relatively hard wood. They both have an original and different headdress. They both show traces of blue pigments on the headdress. Finally, they both wear a copper necklace around the neck and one brother wears a copper bracelet as well. Period: middle of the 20th century, the pearl mantle is later.
