Georg von Hoyningen-Huene (1900-1968)

Study for Vogue, Marlene Dietrich? 1930, Vintage silver print, 244x197 mm, small tear in the upper right corner, signed, recto, dated, pencil, verso. After starting the previous year as an illustrator for Condé Nast, around 1926 (the year of Blanche et noire), Georg became head of photography for Vogue Paris, where he remained for about ten years. The images from the studio were intended for the French and American editions of Vogue, and he became known on the other side of the Atlantic as well. In 1931, he met Horst, the future photographer, who became his lover and his regular model, and traveled with him to England that winter.
