ROPS -- RASSENFOSSE, Armand (1862-1934). Letter to "Mon cher Emile" (Berchmans?), 8 Dec. 1928. Ms. in ink on thin cardboard, r° and v°. 152 x 109 mm. Signed 'Armand'. -- And 4 o. related items. (5). NOTE:Most likely addressed to the Belgian painter Émile Berchmans (1867-1947), who, together with Armand Rassenfosse and Auguste Donnay, was one of the main poster designers of Auguste Bénard's printing in Liège. To the letter is added a heliogravure self-portr. of Rassenfosse at the age of 56, dated 1918 and signed in pencil. 122 x 101 mm. (Traces of former mounting on v°). "Ce portrait n'a jamais été exposé ni mis en vente - je l'ai fait pour mon plaisir", R. writes in his letter. He also mentions to have 'evoked' F. Rops (in commemoration of his death 30 years earlier). -- Added: Carte de visite (l'Imprimerie Bénard!) of Rassenfosse, w. a short note in ms. addressed to "Mon cher Emile" in which he refers to a drawing he found with a bouquiniste. We add an anon. portrait in ink of Félicien Rops which may be the drawing Rassenfosse is referring to. 232 x 180 mm. -- And finally: Heliogravure new year's card for 1929 by Rassenfosse.
