A flintlock gun signed Gio Azze

dating: early 18th Century provenance: Brescia, Octagonal and round, smoothbore, two-stage, 17 mm cal. barrel at the nozzle, with iron foresight (probably moved from the original place), rings at the girdle, at the initial part mark 'LAZARI COMINAZ' between toothed wheels. Smooth tang (slight detachment?). Modern-style lock with working mechanics, almost flat lock plate, screw with remains of a bust in relief; signature 'GIO AZZE'. Long, wooden case with woodworm holes on the butt side. Iron mounts. Trigger guard with engraved leaves. Smooth (later?) bands. Thick, iron ramrod. Barbiroli reports that of Azzi (Azze) Giovanni, a Brescian 'azzaliniere' who worked until the first quarter of the 18th century, only his date of birth is known: 1634.
